Those who are tired of cookie-cutter Playmates aren't desiring to see
women who are fat or homely, which Carnie tends toward (I went through
her pictorial with almost the same speed as it took me to turn the
pages, this is one of the least remarkable pictorials Playboy has ever
done). When we say we want different types of women in Playboy, we
mean ethnicity, body-type, hair coloring, etc. I think this is
achieved to a certain extent by the Cyber Girls. When I say body-type,
though, I don't mean overweight, I mean slim-hipped, small-breasted,
etc. etc. Frankly, I think the last few months of Playmates have been
a refreshing change from the Hef roboblonde ideal that was getting
tiresome.

Carnie certainly is not the norm, but that is not good.

Your argument reminds me of the argument that Senator Roman Hruska of
Nebraska made when Nixon appointed a lackluster judge to the Supreme
Court (I think it was G. Harold Carswell). When everyone pointed out
how mediocre Carswell was, Hruska stood up in the Senate chamber and
said to the effect, what's so bad about that? Mediocre people need
representation, too. Carnie, as a nude model, is a mediocrity, and I
don't get Playboy to see mediocre women. They're supposed to be the
creme de la creme.
