I can see Steve has put a lot of time and thought into this, and I agree 
with a good deal of what he says. Unfortunately,  the stock doesn't drive 
everything in the magazine as much as the advertisers and their media 
buyers do, and they are the ones to whom image is everything. They want 
younger readers of a certain demographic, and they have dissed Playboy as 
"your father's magazine." That's the real reason for shorter, Maxim-style 
stuff.
