No implied situation, but that's not a bother this time. Drebert, features an uninspired pose. As Hefner observes, 'Playboy's editors had yet to take an active hand in the Playmate photography.'" Having seen how later editors could sometimes muck up a good shot (e.g. Carol Eden) perhaps it's just as well the editors didn't take an active hand in this one. At this time Playboy was buying its centerfolds from calendar or stock-shot houses. This has always seemed to me to be the best of that group. The shot is clearly designed to highlight Madeline's figure. There is no argument here that she deserved this special treatment. More than that, her face beams like few models in the Fifties, or even in this century seem to be able to manage. Apart from its erotic appeal, I like the visual letter "G" that Madeline forms. The curve of her back is perfect, complimenting the curves on her front. Her legs are also posed to show off their shape, but yet everything seems artless and innocent.
