To: pml1@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: Centerfold Critiques From: Steve Migala Date: Sun, 13 Feb 2005 14:20:06 -0600 Dear PMLers, Just in case Mark's busy, and there are others who need the review, here 'tis: In Gloria Walker's centerfold (June 1956) we are but a pawn in her game of love. This centerfold not only ties into the theme of the PMOM feature, but also to one of the pictorials and the cover. We haven't seen integration like that since. This pose is one of several that feature a nude model that doesn't show anything. True, Gloria is draped with fabric but that's going to drop to the floor when she stands up. At first, Playboy accepted no advertising. When they did, the explicitness of the magazine took a step toward modesty until the advertisers got used to the idea that association with erotica wasn't necessarily a bad thing. It's also a great pose for Gloria, showing off her naturally soft body to good advantage. That look of near seduction in her eyes is not exclusive to the Fifties (or to the last Millennium, for that matter) and it works quite well. A small oddity on the shape of her left breast: It looks like a lump of bread dough, very squarish. The right looks a bit more typical. The lighting accents Gloria's softness and the delights in running our hands over her body.
