Gloria Windsor's goofing off in her centerfold (April 1957). It's the 
kind of situation that asks us to stick around and enjoy the view. If we 
play along with her, it might play into our own hands (or whatever we 
choose)

Humour and sexual desire are two closely related emotions in that they 
are so personal. Something that strikes me as tremendously funny may 
leave you scratching your head. Some centerfolds that I have praised to 
high heaven have left others cold. In Gloria's centerfold we're treading 
close to the edge on both counts. That's something only a young 
institution tries. Older ones play it safer.

Nevertheless a woman with a sense of humour is far more attractive than 
one without. Add in a great figure like Gloria's and life just gets 
better. I could do without the crinoline, but that's personal prejudice.

Not every good design has to be spectacular, and this centerfold shows 
why. There's nothing remarkable about the big block of orange on the 
right side of the photograph. Nevertheless it does a fine job of 
balancing Gloria who's offset to the left. Her glance over her left 
shoulder and the orange block ties the composition together.
