In Linda Vargas' centerfold (December 1957) she's warming by an open 
fire. That's the source of most of the sexual heat in this centerfold as 
well.

Is this meant as a visual pun? Probably, but there's more to this than a 
corny joke. It's the way the fire interacts with Linda's skin that 
drives this centerfold. (Is she the first, unheralded Hispanic 
Playmate?) I'm absolutely in love with the way Linda's skin seems to 
glow as well as inviting a warm hand to touch. Linda's definitely the 
kind of woman I'd like to touch. Often, and always at length.

There's no direct evidence of this in the centerfold, though. Linda's 
pose and the way the fire flame fig leaves have bee arranged could be 
covering up a great many sins. It's only in the portfolio that we see it 
was an editorial, not biological decision, to cover up.

The bad news is that this time the fig leaf is directly responsible for 
a ho-hum centerfold. It's not without merit. If you haven't seen it yet 
it's worth tracking down. Be forewarned: it's not the one that will 
stick in your mind long after you look away.
