There is no doubt in her mind that we're next on her dance card. The Fifties had its own pin-up conventions. There was a certain look that was used in pin-ups to convey sexual interest. It had only a passing brush with reality, much like Brazilian bikini waxes. Felicia's centerfold is notable for its direct, almost searing approach. Felicia's not happy. What makes this centerfold work is the ease in which we can assume that lack of sexual activity is the root of her unhappiness. Even better, we can easily extend that to "lack of sexual activity with us". Playboy still wanted to take a fairly modest approach to their pin-ups in 1958. This go-around the modest covering of Felicia's breasts, while not my choice, still retains that same sexual directness we see in her expression. Another thing done very well in this iteration is the red pants. In previous centerfolds I've felt that the red was used strictly to pack as much red in the frame as possible. Here it's used as an accent and it works much better. I would have preferred undone laces.
