In Pat Sheehan's centerfold (October 1958) she's paused for a moment 
before opening her closet door. It looks like the pause might be more 
than just a moment.

I'm absolutely in love with the look on Pat's face. She's so happy: so 
happy to be here with me and so happy to already be partly undressed so 
we can get to the first item on her agenda. Everything else in the 
centerfold pales in comparison.

Frankly, there's not that much else going on. I don't get the feeling of 
a bare-bones, cost-cutting effort, but more a deliberate decision to get 
everything else out of the way so Pat can shine. The centerfold has 
strong roots in the cheesecake tradition, and it isn't all that far away 
from Betty Grable's pose (as much in Pat's attitude as anything else).

The make-up and setting are straight out of the fifties and they work 
well. The horizontal shutters provide contrast without being too 
intrusive. The hairstyle works because it fits the mood so well. Pat, 
the rug and her pants strike a red, white and blue color scheme. It's 
the tan of the doors that keep it from being trite.
