To: pml1@yahoogroups.com Subject: [PML1] CC: Mara Corday From: Mark Tomlonson Date: Wed, 24 Dec 2003 10:04:48 -0500 Mara Corday's centerfold (October 1958) is unique in two aspects. First, she shared the PMOM honors with Pat Sheehan, and secondly her centerfold is a two-pager, a throwback to Playboy's earliest days. In the centerfold we see Mara frolicking below the sheets. Although what she's doing is perfectly innocent, everyone in the fifties and the more intelligent of us 45 years on understand that this kind of frolic is just a metaphor for what is really the subject of the photograph. I love seeing a naked, nearly naked or even a clothed woman this happy, whether I'm responsible or not. Combine that general pleasure with the slyly sexual expression on Mara's face and we're talking a winning combination. Mara was a movie actress of moderate fame when the centerfold feature appeared, so perhaps that explains her modesty. Actually, by Playboy's standards of the time, her centerfold isn't all that modest. She didn't work for almost 20 years after the centerfold appeared, but that may have nothing to do with her Playmate status. (Mara's most famous roll was as "Steve Clayton" in "Tarantula". Her last credit is as "Interrogator #2" in "The Rookie") Photographer: David Preston Scoring: Pin-up: 3.5 Erotic: 2.5 Artistic: 2.5 Overall: 3.0 out of 4.0 Cyber Club Portfolio Photo I like better than the Centerfold: none http://cyber.playboy.com/members/playmates/files/1958/10/centerfold.html Mark Tomlonson Kalamazoo MI To: pml1@yahoogroups.com Subject: [PML1] Re: CC: Mara Corday From: Mark Tomlonson Date: Wed, 24 Dec 2003 10:52:01 -0500 In my critque I speculated that Mara Corday's absence from acting for almost 20 years after her Playboy appearance might be related to that appearance. In her IMDB biography, http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0179408/bio it says she took the time off to be a wife and mother. I wouldn't count those two reasons as being mutually exclusive.
