It's easy for me to think of this centerfold as a warm-up for what was to come. Taken fairly early in Playboy's history, it shows how Playboy was eventually able to exploit the qualities inherent in 8 x 10 color film and what were then new developments in printing to create quality pin-ups. This is most noticeable in the color range. There is very subtle shading between the browns of Dianne and the various items on the set. It took a while to reach this level of quality, and I am mystified as to why Playboy seems to totally disregard this in more recent centerfolds. This is almost a great pose for Dianne. I love what is happening around her hips and legs. I am afraid that it does little for her bustline. A larger breasted woman would look really good here. Dianne needs to move her arms to hide what to my eyes is an unattractive curve. Dianne's expression is a bit hard to place, but in this case asking her "What are you thinking?" seems like a good opening.
