To: pml1@yahoogroups.com Subject: [PML1] CC: Pat Wright From: Mark Tomlonson Date: Wed, 26 Nov 2003 11:03:53 -0500 In Pat Wright's centerfold (March 1966) she's standing in front of a mirror frame in a living room. Some centerfolds have celebrated bottoms, some have celebrated breasts, and some have celebrated smiles. This one celebrates ribs and abs. It does so because that's a strong point in its Playmate. The best centerfolds, the best art directors and the best photographers look for those things in a model that are the most attractive (at least in pin-ups) and play those up. Not that the rest of Pat looks bad, but that tanned stomach is very inviting to the touch. The composition in this centerfold dominates in a way that it did in centerfolds just prior to this era. I think we're seeing the end of that style. The curving mirror is arranged so we only see half of it, forming an arc. The sweater and books tossed "casually" on the floor punctuate the curve, adding weight and a sense of finality. It's the same type of look that's been used in pin-ups for over 100 years, although the arc is usually formed by a paper crescent moon with the model sitting on the cusp. The model's smile is the same. Photographer: Mario Casilli Scoring: Pin-up: 2.0 Erotic: 2.5 Artistic: 3.5 Overall: 2.4 out of 4.0 Cyber Club Portfolio Photo I like better than the Centerfold: # 15. A little softer, a little less attitude. http://cyber.playboy.com/members/playmates/files/1966/03/centerfold.html http://cyber.playboy.com/members/playmates/files/1966/03/15-lrg.html Mark Tomlonson Kalamazoo MI
