In Linda Moon's centerfold (October 1966) we're being invited to join 
her in bed. To be honest, I've never wanted to take her up on that 
invitation.

There are some girls next door that just shouldn't be Playmates. Linda 
is one of them. To compound the sin, a photo was selected for her 
centerfold that highlights all her weak points and does nothing for her 
good ones. A woman built like Linda can make an outstanding pin-up, but 
you can't make her look like a fat cow.

I think the idea here was to show a carefree young spirit in bed. It 
didn't happen, didn't even come close.

The pose is wrong. While it does play up her breasts, it also increases 
the size of her stomach. The placement of the fig leaf is no help in 
that regard either. She should have either teased her hair a bit more or 
combed it. A different stylist in the first place would have been a big 
help.

At least the expression her face adds some interest, but it's an uphill 
swim against the sheets. The pattern is too much for Linda. A solid 
blanket should have been used.

Update:

At least one member of this List has said he felt my review was too 
critical. On re-reading the review and re-evaluating the centerfold I'm 
now inclined to agree. I was way too tough on Linda

I'm still not a fan of this centerfold. It seems to me that it is an 
early study that somehow made it out of the office. Taking Hef's role 
for the moment, here are the notes I would have made on this picture 
before sending it back for re-work:

Arms up: good idea. Gives an attractive line to Linda's breasts
Smile and attitude: Shows Linda at her best
Hair: too lifeless. Length is O.K., have her spend about 5 minutes with 
a stylist.
Stomach: A stomach thrust out can work, but more drama is needed in this 
case. Either put a slight twist in her torso or have her straighten up.
Legs: Have one, preferably the right, come out straight alongside the 
bed for a more dramatic and balanced pose.
Setting: Too much pattern. Change the bottom sheet and pillows to a 
solid color that matches the stripes in the top sheet. Change the 
comforter to a large-patterned one. The squares are too busy.

With these changes we might have had a decent centerfold. I think Linda 
could have come across as Playmate material if she would have been 
handled differently. I think something along the lines of Avis Kimble's 
centerfold would have served her much better
