To: pml1@yahoogroups.com Subject: [PML1] CC: Carol Willis From: Mark Tomlonson Date: Thu, 17 Apr 2003 11:43:47 -0400 In Carol Willis' centerfold (July 1970) she's decided to forego the swimsuit while at the beach, and is inviting us to join her in the sun. Or maybe she's suggesting we curl up together to guard against a slight chill from the sea. This centerfold is all about triangles. The background is a series of stacked triangles, and Carol has been posed so that her arms and legs and even her breasts form very definite outlines. The result does wonders for Carol's legs and hips. It makes it easy to take advantage of Carol's exotic looks. Bringing the sleeping bag up in a cuddle makes it easy to think about cuddling up with her as we toasted marshmallows. Or something. The problem with the centerfold is that I notice the triangles almost before I notice the lovely naked girl. It's not that the triangles are so prominent, it's that Carol doesn't dominate the pin-up. It's as if someone decided to highlight her bottom (good) at the expense of the rest of her (bad) or even a stellar centerfold (almost unforgivable). Carol was one of my favorite Playmates of the seventies. I was sorry to learn she left us so soon. Photographers: Pompeo Posar, Jack Hamilton Scoring: Pin-up: 1.0 Erotic: 1.0 Artistic: 2.0 Overall: 1.2 out of 4.0 Cyber Club Portfolio Photo I like better than the Centerfold: #6. It's obviously a test shot and would need development to work into a centerfold, but I think Carol looks many times better in this shot than her centerfold. If you have the magazine, her PMOM feature shows that Playboy was playing around with pubic exposure before its debut in Liv Lindeland's centerfold. http://cyber.playboy.com/members/playmates/files/1970/07/centerfold.html http://cyber.playboy.com/members/playmates/files/1970/07/06-lrg.html Mark Tomlonson Kalamazoo MI
