To: pml1@yahoogroups.com Subject: [PML1] CC: Linda Summers From: Mark Tomlonson Date: Wed, 26 Nov 2003 11:05:08 -0500 In Linda Summers' centerfold (August 1972) she pokes fun at the appearance of Burt Reynolds in the centerfold of another magazine, and proves that what works for one sex doesn't always work for another. After all, men and women are different. Linda really doesn't look that bad in this photograph, but she's trying (or was made to try) too hard to copy the Burt Reynolds' pose she's looking at. It worked for Burt, but it's only mildly successful for her. She seems too twisted, too forced and none of her lines are given a chance to mature. I like the look on her face, invitation while still remaining coy. The glasses tell us she was just giving Burt a close once (or tenth) over, and she's now warmed up for something or other. The sand makes a good background for her, as does the pink blanket and the pink splashes in the rest of the frame. Having a swoop from lower left to upper right was a subtle touch that adds to the interest, and keeps our eye on the picture to appreciate Linda in her own right. After all, she doesn't look anything at all like Burt.
