It was a stunt, of course, and not an entirely successful one. The problem, and it's a big one, is that Nancy doesn't seem to be a good enough actress to make this work. She looks like she's trying to be sexy, not like she is sexy. The white nightie isn't helping much. White is a great color against Nancy's lovely skin, but it's way too busy for he rest of the photograph, and it really doesn't do much for her chest. She would have been better without it. From the back, she looks great with it. It stops at just the right spot to remind us of the curve in the small of her back, and it sets up a truly outstanding bottom. Nancy is an extremely attractive woman, but the front pose drops her down to very attractive. The rear shot does a much better job of playing to her strengths. As attractive as she is, she may not be the model that looks good from two sides at once. I'd be willing to do further research on this, of course, but I'm still left with the nagging feeling that Nancy should have been a stunning Miss February or December, and someone else should have taken the two-sided gatefold. I suppose you could take this as a wedding night fantasy if you want to. The good thing is you don't have to. Pin-ups work best when they stimulate your imagination and as forced as Nancy's smile is, it still manages to leave things very open-ended. The colors are all very good. The silver ring is a good highlight in the front, the bottle brings up the rear. The front composition is so-so, the back very well done.
