playboy50: Let's begin

I had hoped to contribute my part to this topic tonight, but after
thinking and writing for the past five or six hours, I see it is just
not quite ready to come out as I want it.  I have comments as well on
the two messages from earlier today; both of them brought up some
interesting points that I would like to draw out.  Just to let you all
know that I haven't forgotten about this; I want to do it right!

I did want to mention also that I am on the road tomorrow for a trip
out of town, and so any posts here might be a bit slow to appear; I
probably won't get to this again until quite late tomorrow evening, so
please be patient with submissions until then.
