In Jean Moorehead's centerfold (October 1955) she's stopped by our dorm 
room for a visit. It looks like she intends to stay the night.

This centerfold is the first to really play to the original target 
audience of OFM: college-educated men. The dorm room is complete with 
earlier Playboy centerfolds on the closet wall as well as the usual 
stuff. Notice that the foldouts are inside the closet door. At many 
colleges in the mid-fifties "in loco parentis" were the operative words 
and Playmates, printed or live, were verboten.

The best thing about this picture of Jean is its lightness. Playboy was 
trying to pull sex out of the dark corners in the Playboy Philosophy, 
and I think it was trying to do the same in its features.

Holding this shot back is the lingerie chosen for Jean. It's the kind of 
thing you'd actually find if you undressed co-eds in the fifties. I'd 
have preferred to have gone with something a bit more special. Turning 
Jeans shins directly towards the camera heightens the realism at the 
expense of glamour. I much prefer the look of the alternate shot. Still 
in a dorm room, but with the heat turned up.
