In Lisa Winters' centerfold (December 1956) she's really enjoying her 
dip in the pool.

The thing that drives this centerfold is the pure, unvarnished joy on 
Lisa's face. Even better, it's clearly a sensual joy. Maybe it's not 
directly erotic, but it's only a short trip there from where Lisa is 
now. I also love the sly look in Lisa's eyes. No matter what eventually 
plays out, Lisa is going to get her fun as well.

I love the look of the light Lisa set against the dark blue of the pool. 
Later we see light Playmates against white, and in my eyes that works 
only sporadically.

The strong point of the composition is the diagonal of the pool edge 
slicing from left to right. It is not entirely accidental that Lisa's 
face falls directly along this line. The curve of the handrail is a good 
contrast to this line, and in a more subtle way steers our eye towards Lisa.

This isn't the framing that eventually became a centerfold standard, and 
in this case that's not all bad. The downside: we don't see Lisa's full 
figure. The upside: the way Lisa's great smile is given its due.

wonder what the relationship is between Bunny's #2 shot and Linda 
Gamble's April 1960 centerfold?
