It looks even worse in print than the scan. Why in the name of Aphrodite was this picture chosen over the alternate? I am at a total loss. In the centerfold Clayre looks like she's a) pithed b) dipped in plastic or c) out to lunch for the last time. Sure, we can make out some of the goods, but what good is that going to do us? I doubt we'll be able to pry that nightgown off with a crowbar. In the alternate Clayre shows she is an attractive woman, and more importantly, looks like she'd like to get to know us. Turning to the side shows her figure, and while the goods are still covered the half-open gown at least gives us the idea that it does come off. Clayre deserves far better treatment than what she got. Suppose there was a problem with the alternate that I'm not aware of. I understand how that can happen. But don't run a picture like this centerfold. There are several examples in Playboy's archives of modest exposure conveying sexual heat - imitate one of those. This is what this centerfold should have been. Both Clayre and her costume are open and inviting. http://cyber.playboy.com/members/playmates/files/1959/08/centerfold.html http://cyber.playboy.com/members/playmates/files/1959/08/04-lrg.html Mark Tomlonson Kalamazoo MI
