When you put a pretty, mostly-naked girl in front of a roaring fire it almost always works. It works here but what really makes this centerfold is Kari's smile. It's a good blend of invitation, sexiness and happiness. You really don't need a whole lot more than that to make a good pin-up. Which is why the breast squeeze seems more than a bit egregious. Kari doesn't need it. I suppose there are and always have been Playboy readers who couldn't relate to a centerfold unless it had a generous amount of cleavage, but that's their problem, not Kari's. I wish she could have relaxed her arms a bit more. The skates and Kari's pants add a nice bit of weight to the photo. The sweater is the right color for Kari and it ends at just the right spot. Ending it there introduces the problem of what to do with the bottom half of what makes Kari a woman. The answer was to print the area dark, a technique that was more successful in some examples of the centerfold than in others.
