In Kai Brendlinger's centerfold (November 1964) she's stretched out on 
the bed, making us an offer we'd be foolish to refuse.

The neat thing about this centerfold is that no one part in particular 
is being offered. It's a package deal. Some of this may be a conscious 
effort, but some of it definitely comes from the pose selected for Kai.

Several times Playboy's art staff has chosen or stumbled upon a pose 
that is absolutely perfect for a model, and we see that here. Having Kai 
lie like this really brings out the curves in her hips and legs and the 
strength and youthfulness of her torso. Yet at the same time it 
downplays her breasts. Of all the curves on Kai those are the least 
attractive, but in this pose those curves flow into her arms and 
shoulders. If this was the only photo I'd seen of Kai I'd have nothing 
negative to say about them at all.

The centerfold reminds us that you can't separate a woman into parts. 
The look of invitation on Kai's face says a lot about her intelligence, 
independence and her passion. If we're lucky, that passion will be 
directed at us.
