To: pml1@yahoogroups.com Subject: [PML1] CC: Kim Farber From: Mark Tomlonson Date: Fri, 05 Dec 2003 10:43:38 -0500 Kim Farber's centerfold (February 1967) is a near-clone of Nancy Jo Hooper's three years earlier, but this time they got it right. There are several differences between the two pictures, but all of them are really very slight. The most noticeable is Kim's pose. She doesn't look like her left shoulder has been pinned to the mattress. This gives her a much more natural and less forced look. She could be rolling over to meet us, or she could be laying back down to thank us for the valentine. Another important difference is the addition of the zebra pattern sheets. They add life and interest. Too much more of them and we'd be in trouble, but here they work very well as part of the total effect. Kim herself makes a difference as well. She's not the overt seductress Nancy Jo was. She's more innocent in her invitation. Her eyes play a big role in this. Both women look fine, just different. A couple of times Playboy has used stuffed animals in a centerfold to connote youth. Graphically they seem to work well, but they usually, like here, end up looking very clumsy. Kim doesn't need the animals.
