To: pml1@yahoogroups.com Subject: [PML1] CC: DeDe Lind From: Mark Tomlonson Date: Tue, 15 Apr 2003 09:25:56 -0400 In DeDe Lind's centerfold (August 1967) it's our next move, and we can choose whether it's darts or something else. Writing a critique of an iconic centerfold is a dangerous business, especially in a case like this where the Playmate outshines the centerfold. What is the point of all the clutter? Maybe it was the visual equivalent of a be-bop riff. While Charlie Parker was a genius, not all of his imitators were. The shuttlecock by DeDe's toe is either a poor visual pun or a riff gone astray. There's enough "good" clutter that I can see what the designer was going for, but it's too much. Dartboard - O.K. Sweater - not bad. Table - maybe. The problem arises when they are all thrown together. The diverse elements come just short of drawing all attention away from DeDe. She doesn't need that. DeDe's pose is outstanding. Her stretched legs are a joy to consider, and this is a great posture for showing off her breasts. The capper of it all is the smile. You would be hard pressed to find any woman anywhere with a sweeter, cuter smile. Fortunately the sweetness has stayed with her through the years.
