In Dru Hart's centerfold (September 1968) she's Eve, tempting us under 
the tree with an apple. If the apple is the most tempting thing for you 
in this photograph, then you and I probably differ on a great many other 
things as well.

Normally Playboy has trouble in a centerfold portraying any kind of 
food. Here it works because it is so incidental to the main proceedings. 
The main attraction here is Dru, and I'll call it a near dead heat 
between her alluring expression and her breasts. Actually, I don't think 
the two are in competition. The attractiveness and desirability of the 
one increases the desire for the other.

Texture plays an important role as well. The corduroys make an 
interesting substitute for what couldn't be shown in 1968, as well as 
standing on their own merits. Dru's hair and her shirt both have a 
sensual quality that calls for our hand to be running over and through them.

The wicker chair forms an obvious and successful frame around Dru. The 
bit of a pattern on the pillow she's sitting on adds just a dash of 
interest where it's needed. The apple balances, but never detracts.
