To: pml1@yahoogroups.com Subject: [PML1] CC: Cynthia Myers From: Mark Tomlonson Date: Fri, 12 Sep 2003 09:26:08 -0400 In Cynthia Myers' centerfold (December 1968) she's kneeling on a fur rug in a setting that looks like it's straight out of "Austin Powers". There are lots of photos of Cynthia that I really like. Really, really like. The centerfold is one that I try not to call out of my memory when thinking of Cynthia. She looks good, and the centerfold is better than many that Playboy has published. The reasons it falls a bit short are the same reasons "Austin Powers" seems so silly. Everything is a bit overboard, too stylish, too exaggerated. Everything is trying way too hard to make a good impression. Cynthia is one of the sweetest people you could ever hope to meet. Voluptuous, sensual, and playful are other words that spring to mind. The centerfold downplays all of those in favor of her breasts. There are other photos, and here I'm thinking of a couple that show her stretching out on her back on the floor, that really highlight her entire figure. The centerfold in contrast is mostly about her breasts. Maybe if I hadn't seen other pictures that I like so much better, I'd see the centerfold in a better light. It's won at least a couple of polls on this List as "All Time Favorite Centerfold". I'm still sticking to my original assessment. In my own defense I'll quickly point out that I realize the things I don't like about the centerfold are very subjective, and I did give it a 3.2, which is higher than a lot of other good centerfolds. Cynthia is by any measure an outstanding pin-up model. I don't think this is one of her best pin-ups. I hope her recovery continues to go well. Mark Tomlonson Kalamazoo MI
