In Leslie Bianchini's centerfold (January 1969) she's been amusing her 
cat with balls of yarn. Now she will be amusing us in a different fashion.

What makes this centerfold stand out for me is the way it so deftly 
plays to both the strengths and the limitations of late-sixties Playboy 
centerfolds.

First is the limitation: one area of the female anatomy could not be 
shown under any circumstances without risking a stamp of obscenity, 
preventing the magazine from being mailed as second-class material. The 
position of Leslie's legs accommodate that limitation while at the same 
time providing an unmistakable invitation. The pleasant shape of her 
legs is almost a bonus in this case.

The strength: a color printing process that allowed for deep, rich, 
full-valued color. We can see that all over the centerfold, but mostly 
in the afghan and the yarns. It also comes into play around Leslie's 
hair and eyes.

Leslie makes for a very pleasing choice as Playmate. She's not 
"spectacular", but under the schoolgirl-youthful body there is a strong 
undercurrent of sexuality. She also seems to have a wistful expression 
almost all the time. The two combine for a very strong attraction.
