In Shay Knuth's centerfold (September 1969) she's in an upstairs room, 
going through an old photo album she's found in a trunk. To our 
advantage, she's ready to be interrupted.

What first catches my attention here is the look on Shay's face. There 
is a direct connection between Shay and myself. Never mind that 
literally millions of other people will see this same connection, nor 
that she's really looking at the photographer. This direct, sexual 
connection is essential in a successful pin-up.

The second thing I notice is how good Shay looks. Some of it's bone 
structure and genes of course, but a large component is how well the 
photographer has been able to capture a posture that flatters and 
enhances what the model has. Having Shay propped up like this is an 
excellent choice. It's also very natural as opposed to a studio pose. 
This increases the sense of intimacy for me.

And the last thing I notice is the graphic form. Here the outstanding 
element is the intertwining curves moving from upper left to lower 
right, curves formed by the lovely Shay and her dressing gown.

An outstanding Playmate well treated in her centerfold.

Cyber Club Portfolio Photo I like better than the Centerfold: None, but 
I think # 12 is a real winner. I think Shay's best picture was the 
December 1970 cover.
