To: pml1@yahoogroups.com From: Mark Tomlonson Date: Wed, 14 May 2003 09:40:24 -0400 Subject: [PML1] CC: Linda Forsythe In Linda Forsythe's centerfold (February 1970) she is in a studio standing among brightly-painted vertical boards. This is clearly a set-up shot, with no pretensions of being anything else. Nobody has ever shown the artistic sensibilities in pin-up photography that Pompeo Posar has, although a couple of other photographers are in the same class. Here his color selection is remarkable. It's almost impossible to imagine a different mix or different shades working anywhere near as well as this. The bright, warm colors blend perfectly with Linda's skin tones and the fig leaf panties. These are eye-catching colors to the extreme, and they and Linda's smile give this picture the highest "Pin-up" appeal. I think this is a centerfold that could be restaged today without the fig leaf and be just as successful. Given its time and the evidence in the Cyber Club, such a shot may have been considered for Linda. Where this centerfold falls down is in the "Erotic" area. As attractive as this photo is, I could look at it for hours but it never would move me from the reality of Linda standing in a photo studio in her panties with a bunch of painted boards. Playboy has led us to believe that it's actually a fairly large staff of assistant photographers, art directors photo editors and of course Hef who all contribute to the final product. Please keep this in mind when I say "the photographer" Mark Tomlonson Kalamazoo MI
