In Marilyn Cole's centerfold (January 1972) she's been reading while she 
waits for us in the Library. It's hard to tell why we were detained 
elsewhere in the manse, but we are fortunate that Marilyn has decided to 
wait for us.

In my eyes this is really the first centerfold to go with full-frontal 
nudity. A year before this Liv Lindeland appeared in a delightful 
centerfold that's heralded as the first appearance, but that pose still 
hedged some very important bets. The next appearance was not until Karen 
Christy 11 months later, but then we played hide and seek with a fishbowl.

Marilyn is putting everything on the table. The good news is that she's 
a woman who is up to the task. Forgetting how this picture fits 
historically, it's a darn good centerfold in its own right. It's 
interesting to me that the hair on Marilyn's stomach just below her 
navel is given such prominence. It's a reminder that this is an utterly 
natural woman - all of her. There is nothing to hide, nothing to be 
ashamed of, nothing that needs to hidden. It's all up to Marilyn, not 
the censor.

The bad news? There is no bad news!
