In Rita Lee's centerfold (November 1977) the preliminaries are over, and 
it's clear from the look on her face that the main event is about to begin.

has the direct, inviting, non-crude look that Playboy does so well. Her 
hair is arranged to flatter. The pose suits her figure. The only fault I 
can find is with an aggressive tan line. The thought may have been to 
have the tan lines accent her breasts.

Below Rita's navel there are problems. The first problem is Rita's right 
hand. Its intent is too ambiguous. I can't tell if she's going to take 
off the panties or move her hand back to her side. Her legs seem 
awkward, especially the joint between her left thigh and her hips. The 
graceful curves set up in the top of the centerfold all run astray here. 
It's like Rita can't make up her mind how explicit to be.

The pressure was on in the late 1970's to be more directly sexual. 
Playboy needed to work out how or if that was going to happen. A nice 
try here, but it misses the mark.
