In Patty Duffek's centerfold (May 1984) she's seated on the porch, a not 
as prim as she looks Southern lady inviting us in for . . . well, a 
Southern Gentleman would say for mint juleps.

Patty's portfolio is good example of how tempting it is for me to 
second-guess the photo editors at Playboy. We see several of the 
"Southern Belle" shots as the idea is explored. Frankly, there's 
something sexy about a woman with her hair up, especially Patty. There 
are also a series of shower photos of Patty, of which just one is 
represented in the portfolio, where her sexual heat and sophistication 
leaps of the printed page. Given that, it seems unfortunate that the 
editors decided to pursue the slightly less attractive theme for the 
centerfold.

The centerfold also presents some problems with her tan lines. To my eye 
they conflict with her open dress, giving her lovely breasts a square 
and geometric feeling when the curves should be played up instead. Her 
expression saves the day, with heat left over from the shower. Her legs 
are worth mentioning. Posed to give a bit of modesty, they also invite 
us in.
