In Kathy Shower's centerfold (May 1985) we've slain the dragon and she 
awaits us at the castle door with a reward fit for a Knight of the Round 
Table. Or any man at any table.

The selection of Kathy as Playmate and Playmate of the Year was a bit of 
a risk for Playboy: would the readers accept an older, single mother of 
two as a fantasy woman? Near as I can tell they did. Kathy's definitely 
Playmate material. Her marital status and kids are just sidelights.

Kathy's second biggest asset is her breasts, and I imagine some viewers 
are disappointed in the way they are handled here. Get over it. A woman 
is more than the sum of her parts and the appeal of this centerfold 
rests on the total image Kathy presents. The effect of opening her skirt 
so graciously and with so little reservation would be lost, I think, 
without the opaqueness of her top.

Her biggest asset is of course her smile. This is no shy virgin (don't 
tell the dragon). This is a woman who knows what she wants, and would be 
glad to show us the ropes. Macramé was never this much fun.
