In Hope Carlton's centerfold (July 1985) she's waiting for us in the 
dressing room, ready to stage our own extravaganza.

Here we see the proper use of stiff lace in a centerfold - as part of 
the set, not the costume. It's a wonderful frame for Hope and a good 
contrast to her angular pose. The use of color deserves a special 
mention. The background does a slow fade from red to blue, and the 
choker Hope's wearing is a well-placed accent. As a matter of fact, 
there's nothing here that leads the color scheme astray.

As a lovely picture of a lovely young woman this shot succeeds in 
spades. As a bit of erotica, not so good. Hope's certainly cute enough 
and I have no complaints about her figure, especially the way the 
lighting showcases her wonderful complexion. When you combine a pose 
that's more for composition than to show off the figure and an 
expression that is way too world-weary for a woman this young, the 
result is an effort that never quite gets out of the erotic starting gate.

So the centerfold is more about beauty than erotica. That's still O.K. 
in my book.
