It is our good fortune that she's not completely worn out yet. A lot of foldouts from the fifties and sixties look like they've been laid out on a drawing board. The background and the model all blend into one composition. There's no particular merit in doing that unless it enhances the presentation of the photo. In Julie's centerfold the model and the background are for the most part independent of each other. What is noticeable is how they still manage to compliment one another. I'm not a big fan of pin-ups where the model is pulling and tugging at one thing or another. This one's the exception. I think it's because Julie retains a very natural or organic pose. She doesn't look like she's holding her arms this way because the photographer told her to, it's because this is the way you rip off a leotard. Then there's her smoldering expression: an excellent choice. The only negatives I can come up with are her gloves and the amount of tease in her hair, both minor considerations.
