Given the richness of her clothing, I'd say she's a patron, not one of the models. Marina, in a magazine article that presaged Anne Heche's book in more ways than one, said she felt the centerfold was a poor match for who she really was. I'd agree. This is an excellent set and costume, conveying without question a world now passed of the idle rich and afternoons spent sipping absinthe frappes. Marina never quite rises to the occasion. She retains the look of a more modern woman. The best words I can find is that she lacks the modesty of a woman brought up 125 years ago. It's not just the nudity, there is an attitude missing in the way she's holding her head and engaging the camera. There is a definite look in vintage erotica, and she doesn't have it. What she does have is a very pleasing, natural figure with the fullness of a real woman. It's Kate Winslet, not Kate Hudson. The pose was well selected to bring out the best of this look. I particularly like what the hat does to her face.
