In Susie Owens' centerfold (March 1988), she's in a cabin, riding 
diaphanous waves of sheer material and circled by a soft, even light.

The artistic elements of this centerfold are just first rate. The colors 
are so soft, so delicate, but they never fade into just a huge white 
mass. The light looks consistent at first, but is full of very subtle 
variations. Several smaller lines moderate the strong diagonal of Susie 
leaning against the post. None of these ever threaten to overpower the 
centerfold and they all work together to create a symphony of 
outstanding design.

Susie is about as lovely as a Playmate gets. She is blessed with a 
beautiful, communicative expression, a great face and a wonderfully 
proportioned body.

So, what's not to like?

For me, it's the expression chosen in the photograph. It lacks an 
element of directness that could make me, the viewer, more involved and 
make this centerfold an absolute killer. To a lesser extent, it's also 
Susie's pose. It works quite well graphically, but I have this nagging 
suspicion that she's going to need my help getting back into a standing 
position.

Maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing after all.
