She had me with the clothes. This is an excellent pose. The tribal tat' on Nicole's arm is one of the few styles this apprentice geezer finds mostly attractive. The silver chain is well placed, with the text being strictly redundant. I can't pin down why, but Nicole's expression makes me wish I were standing right there in front of her. Other models and art departments have tried for this mood in more obvious ways and failed. I can't decide if I'm surprised at the very few risks that were taken in this centerfold, given that we haven't seen this by-line before. Is it that the new guy got the job because he so thoroughly understood the Playboy Stile, or was it that the editors didn't trust the new guy? Was this a shoot where the photographer's input was small? This centerfold would be a lot more pedestrian if it were not for the fact the Playboy was starting to return to its quality heritage. It's average, but only within the historically high standards of Our Favorite Magazine.
