Forget the opera tickets. Tonight, the aria will be sung just for us. Regina may be pretending to be angry that we've interrupted her, but it seems all for show. It's a wonderful expression. In his book "Pin-Up", Mark Gabor includes a woodcut from the 15th Century that he says is the first pin-up in history. It's a soap advertisement showing a topless girl admiring herself in a mirror. To re-use an old form, you need to do it well. Regina has not been shorted. Playboy did centerfolds this good back in the days of Nixon and Ford. I love how the mirror is cropped, filling the frame. This is not the first centerfold to be composed like this, but none have done it better. I love the swooping line Regina takes as she swivels in the chair. The chair also gives her a base, and she looks in no danger of falling over. Just one issue: Regina doesn't quite have the derriere to make this pose click. But given a choice between no Regina or Regina in this centerfold, make mine the centerfold.
